This wasn’t really what I had planned to put out this weekend but sometimes you just have to make something you need! This reel was super easy to make and I will certainly have to make a bunch more to hold my other extension cords and Christmas lights. Check out the video below to see how I make this simple reel.
Just below is a 1:1 template that you can print, glue together (it’s on two pages) and glue on to your plywood. Feel free to use and give away!

Thank you for an easy and useful introductory project. I teach high school construction and manufacturing and I am always looking for what I call a “equipment safety project”. The students have to demonstrate to me that they can use all the tools and equipment in the shop in a proper and safe manner on a simple project before they are allowed to work independently on a large project. So far I have used a oven rack puller and a BBQ scrapper as a safety project. Now I will add your extension cord reel as well. If you have any more good useful small projects where new students can demonstrate basic safety skills with shop tools and equipment please share them.
