From what will be the top of your jig mark a line at 7/16″(0.4375), 3/4″(0.75) and 1 1/16″(1.063) then mark a line down the center, the cross section is where you need to drill the the three main holes. You then need to drill two cutting holes on either side of the main dowel hole, these only need to be drilled about half way through the jig material.
Measurements for a 3/8″ Dowel:
From what will be the top of your jig mark a line at 1/2″(0.5), 3/4″(0.75) and 1″ (1.00) then mark a line down the center, the cross section is where you need to drill. You then need to drill two cutting holes on either side of the main dowel hole, these only need to be drilled about half way through the jig material.
I have included 2 PDF files, one for 1/2″ dowels and one for 3/8″ dowels, that can be printed 1:1 and used to mark your hole location. Place the reference at the top of the jig material, either glue in place and go right to drilling your holes or hold in place and make some reference divots.
You will probably be blown away at how accurate your dowels end up! Below is a slide show of my steps, check out the video for more detail. Cheers!
