Just purchased the plans and have cut up the parts & am super excited to start the build. However, a couple of observations…
1. Wouldn’t you have had less waste if you would have purchased a single 2″ x 6″ x 10′ long? I cut the required boards out of the 2-8 footers & had considerable left over but could have got both from a single 10′ board.
2. I noticed you actually used the 3/4″ pipe when you made the flip top. Prior to installing the lid, would it have made more sense to have left the pipe in place rather than having to pound it thru later?
3. Also, after reading the Amazon website, I’m surprised you got your collars to fit the 3/4″ conduit. From what I gathered, the collars have an exact .75″ inside dimension. However, most conduit has an outside dimension of 0.83″; slightly bigger that the collar. Luckily, I read one of the comment of another of your plans and he stated emphatically that one should order two of their solid steel which were said to fit the inside diameter of the collar.
That’s all I’ve noticed for now, but if something comes up during the build, I’ll let you know.
